Late Summer on the Flint Hills Nature Trail
64I recently had a chance to visit the Flint Hills Nature Trail near Rantoul, Kansas.
The Kanza Rail-Trails Conservancy is making great progress on the trail, and there are major changes each time I visit the trail.
For those who haven't ridden the Flint Hills Nature Trail, I thought I'd give you a sneak preview of what you'll find. Late summer is an especially nice time to ride the trail, as the woods and fields along the trail are literally blanketed with a huge variety of flowers in spectacular bloom.
More Information
The Flint Hills Nature Trail is 117-mile rail-trail conversion connecting Osawatomie in the east and Herington in the west, passing through the towns of Rantoul, Ottawa, Pomona, Vassar, Osage City, Bazaar, Allen, Bushong, Council Grove, Wilsey, and Delavan. When completed, it will be the longest rail-trail in Kansas, and one of the longest in the nation.
